Here I am staring down at the keys of my laptop to write an “About Me” blip, the problem is I find little, more drab, then a list of credentials that measure ones experience, you know- the titles, awards, education the stuff that offers zero dimension of a life led. Truly you will learn more about me by reading my writing, then you will from my resume. To prevent any confusion though, last I checked, the paparazzi wasn’t outside my front door waiting to pounce, there is no framed diploma from a prestigious university hanging on the wall above my computer, and it is unlikely that I will be called upon by President Obama or Vice President Biden, to continue to help shape American policy centering around the prevention of violence against women, but I would, if they did, graciously.
I am a writer, as long as I can remember I have been writing, it is an obsession that doesn’t require an office, neat desk, or stipulated hours and for that I am eternally grateful. I have written countless poems, short stories, and diary entries some intended for me, some intended for others, all acting as integral pieces of my obsession to write. It is with enormous excitement that I invite you to discover excerpts from my Memoir, Tornado Warning, which will make its debut in 2010 as my first published work outside of a newsletter.
In addition to being a writer I am also the founder and executive director of girls kNOw more a budding soon to be non-profit organization whose mission is to help build self-confidence in middle school age girls.
Prior to heading back in earnest to finish Tornado Warning, I worked in home building, initially as a Sales Associate and finally as Director of Sales. It was my distinct privilege to serve as a department leader where my greatest accomplishments centered around mentoring, coaching, and training team members.
I am a woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, animal lover, who also is a writer, runner, entrepreneur in the making, and probably a whole lot of other things that aren’t occurring to me right now. Together with my family, I live in the beach community of Carlsbad, California.
Enjoy, I look forward to hearing from you should you wish to share.

Elin, I love the voice expressed in your introduction, which invites the reader to become a mutual explorer beyond one’s credentials while considering personal experiences that shape each other’s lives, rewarding individual endeavors and meaningful accomplishments that involve day to day moments, some of which contribute to self-discovery and profound changes.
I can’t wait to read Tornado Warning, thank you for letting me take a peek.
I was daydreaming recently how nice it would be to do that coffee, run thing with you in the am. However I do know that part of what makes it so good is doing it alone!! I’ll shoot for being a neighbor, the 2nd cup and the walk after the run! A girl can dream!
Life is messy, isn’t it? That being said – Thanks for bringing peace, comfort, and joy into it – Life does not seem so messy when I am talking with you, or looking at your photographs, and I can only imagine that reading your words will do the same!
I am so happy that Jimmy found you, or you found each other, whatever it may be! Because I now have the pleasure of knowing you as well! Glad we finally connected !!
XO – LR
Amongst all those things listed you are a mentor, a cheerleader , and an inspiration. You truly have a great writing voice, and I too look forward to reading Tornado Warning. Thank you for sharing this!
